In this media driven world we are bombarded by health promotion information much of it is based on poor quality science that is often conflicting and leaves medical professionals frustrated and the general public confused and bemused! Back pain is a common presentation with about 80% of people experiencing it in their lifetime. Thankfully, it is rarely serious however in a small percentage of cases back pain can lead to long term pain, a reduction in the ability to engage in physical activity and a negative effect on quality of life.
